SYCAMORE TREE

Bark Reddish brown when young, quickly breaking into thin, flat scales, falling away in sections.  Sometimes showing white bark.
Leaves are alternate, simple, divided into 3 or 5 shallow, sharp pointed lobs, bright green and smooth at maturity on the upper surface, paler and smooth on the lower surface except for sparsely hair veins.  Can reach up to 8 inches long.
There are many sycamore trees on our playground and the wetland area.
