Installing The Pit-Fall Trap
(What Did They Find?)

Students looked for a good place to locate insects for their pit trap.  These students were just outside of the pond boundaries.
The dirt around the students pit trap is very dry.  They hypothesis was that it was near the pond so insects would come around.
The students doing this pit trap decided to use the location between the river birch  and  sugar maple trees.  They were expecting more insects than in the open wetlands.
The students while doing their pit trap discovered a box turtle and put it on their pit trap jar.  They claimed it was caught in the trap.
These students tried to find a location between the leaves from the trees and moist soil.
These students found the group out in the wetland very dry and hard.
Students marked the location of their pit traps with a flag.  This will alert our janitors mowing the area of the pit trap.

This group of students choose the location next to the pond hoping that more insects would come into their trap of molasses.

Students were excited over finding an earth worm while digging their critter trap.

These students were trying to decide which to use to top the critter trap a pop cycle stick or the jar lid.  Students used flags to mark their different locations.
First picture shows the meat used in their trap.  The second picture shows the students covering the trap with dirt.
