Egyptian District #5 Earns a Commendable Designation in all 3 Schools

 Egyptian School would like to acknowledge the hard work of the students and staff, as well as the support of the parents, community, administration, and Board of Education for the essential part you play in our progress.  This progress in academics, student success, school culture and climate, and financial investments is noted in the annual Illinois Report Card and indicates that Egyptian Elementary, Middle School, and High School all earned the designation of commendable. 

 The Report Card shows how well our schools are progressing on a wide range of educational goals.  We are very proud of the students as they continue to improve, not only in academics but as they grow socially and emotionally. 

 “We hold high expectations for all students and want every child to meet their potential and be successful when they leave our doors” stated Principal Bret Gowin.

 Several factors contribute to the commendable status at all levels. The most essential is that the learning and behavior needs of all students are met and this is addressed at Egyptian by utilizing the RTI (Response to Intervention) process.  Providing the time and resources that allow teachers to identify individual student needs early is necessary for all students to be successful. 

 Egyptian reinforces learning during the day through after school academic and enrichment tutoring.  This additional time allows students to receive individual or small group instruction in all subject areas, as well as to expand learning through numerous enrichment sessions.  Extending academic and social/emotional learning through after school programming is funded through the 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant, the Title I grant, and district funds.

 Superintendent, Brad Misner, says “The evidence-based funds from the state and federal grants provide the financial investments that impact student growth and the Egyptian Board of Education remains committed to that endeavor”.

 The support of students, parents, community, staff, administration, and the Board of Education is essential and appreciated, as the district continues its efforts toward continuous improvement.  The success of every student in this district is our priority.
